I'm offering two sections of the same class. Both classes are full.

We will be working in an intimate 1st floor, sun-filled studio space.

Color Exploration! (Wednesday and Thursday mornings)

Wednesday dates: April 26-June 14, 2017

Thursday dates: April 20-June 8, 2017

time: 9am -12

8 weeks

$300

Have you been dabbling in painting but not quite sure where to go with color? We will start at the very beginning with simple color mixing scales and progress to a more complicated palette. We will build slowly starting with the basics and exploring many approaches to tackling color within a painting. We will be exploring the color and mood through monochromatic, analogous, complimentary and full color approaches. We will be checking out historical and contemporary painting examples, choosing a direction to go in subject wise and explore palette choices prior to each painting creating swatches, premixing color and tackling quick studies leading up to more involved paintings. You can work in any media you choose. This is an 8 weeks class and we aim to tackle 4 completed paintings. Have fun exploring color and finding your palette. This class is designed for students who have some painting experience.

Materials: I will supply acrylic, oil and watercolor paints. Each student should bring their own brushes, knives and surfaces for final paintings (which we will discuss on the first day of class). I will supply mixed media papers for color mixing exercises.

Quick Studies

Wednesday's, 8 weeks

(10/5-11/30)

Quick studies are an important part of the artists process. We will be looking at and studying historical and contemporary examples of artists using quick studies as well as creating many of our own. This class is designed for any artist working in any medium. Focusing on personal pieces, subject matter is chosen by each artist. We will start in black and white, exploring some drawing media (ex. Charcoal or pen and ink) and lead into a variety of small scale color studies focusing on exploring compositional, temperature and saturation changes. Have fun exploring!

All classes are semi-private (max 4) held at my in-home studio. We will be working in a light filled, first floor studio space. All materials are included in the class! Just bring yourself!
